Lauren is a speech language pathologist with experience in rehabilitation across the continuum of care including long term acute care, inpatient, outpatient, and skilled nursing settings. Lauren recently moved to the Durham area by way of Chicago where she previously worked at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab (formerly Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago) in their inpatient and outpatient facilities working with patients recovering from traumatic brain injury and stroke. Lauren is passionate about working with individuals with aphasia and helping to create a supportive community to increase self-advocacy and confidence and decrease isolation that may result from communication challenges. In addition to traditional rehabilitation techniques, Lauren is also skilled in assistive technology and has worked with individuals to determine appropriate supports and train patients and caregivers on how to implement them at home. Lauren is excited and truly honored to join the TAP team. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking with her dog and her boyfriend, cooking, and drawing.
