Kathryn Enchelmayer, MS, MHSA, retired as the director, Medical Staff Affairs for the Veterans Health Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs, in September 2015. Her education includes a Master of Science in audiology and speech-language pathology from the University of North Carolina and a Master in Health Services Administration from Florida International University. Ms. Enchelmayer officially joined the VA as a trainee in audiology and speech-language pathology at the Durham VA. In 1977 she was appointed as an audiologist/ speech-language pathologist at the Miami VA Medical Center. When her husband left active duty in 1989, she moved to the VA Central Office and assumed positions of increasing leadership in VA using her degree in Health Care Administration with VA.
Ms. Enchelmayer is licensed as a speech-language pathologist in Maryland and North Carolina and holds Certificates of Clinical Competence in audiology as well as speech-language pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and board certification in Adult Neurogenic Communication Disorders. Additionally, in the area of credentialing and medical staff management, she is a certified professional medical staff manager and certified provider credentialing specialist.
